Some of you know about Jacob's special friend - Peter Rabbit. Aliases include Soft Rabbit, Lumpy, Bumpy, the Other Pete, Pete's Mommy, Pete's Daddy, Petey Petey... and finally "New Pete". We have 4 of these rabbits at our house. The first was a gift before Jacob was even born. We've added at a rate of 1 rabbit per year since then (the really do multiply like rabbits!).
So to the story. Jacob got New Pete from Santa this year for Christmas. He is definitely the favorite and the most animated of all the rabbits. He has his own 'Pete Voice', which has a sound that is hard to describe. He exclaims "HOP HOP" a lot. New Pete also informed us one day that he was 37 years old - which makes you wonder where he gets off calling himself 'New'. I may try that approach when I get to that #...
ANYWAY, a few weeks ago we were talking about everyone's birthdays. Jacob would tell me whose birthdays were in January, then February. When we got to March, we mentioned Papaw's birthday... and I moved onto April. "No, no... who ELSE's birthday is in March?" asked Jacob. --confusion-- "It's New Pete's birthday on March 14th". So I thought nothing of it and moved on. Jacob would mention this 'birthday' almost every day. "New Pete wants a bunny cake for his birthday, and a party, and 38 candles!"
So without further ado, I present to you the best fictitious birthday party I've ever attended:
PETE'S 38TH BIRTHDAY PARTY!!!

What a fantastic imagination! And that's what you get for buying a cake at Kroger! Next time get one from someone who actually uses flour, sugar, and eggs to bake a cake! :) I love that you indulge his imagination, though. We do too.
