< jacob is SIX >

I kind of feel bad for Jacob having a birthday so close to a holiday. Not that I'm a huge birthday party person, but even if we DID want to do a party, most people already have plans with their families for the 4th. Now I can maybe see how sharing your birthday with Christmas might not be so cool. =)

To make Jacob's day special, we rented a pontoon boat on the 4th and headed to Tims Ford to spend the day playing on the lake. Mamaw and Papaw joined us for a few hours, making it even more enjoyable for Jacob. Presents? A boat? Astronomy presents on a boat? Sounds like heaven to one little 6-year-old I know! He really enjoyed floating in the lake with his life jacket and "swimming" back and forth between me and Joe. With the exception of someone falling in the water fully-clothed and ruining their Blackberry (can you guess who!?) and can't-move-the-next-day sunburns for me & Joe, we had a fabulous time.

Today, we had a low-key celebration with just the three of us... and 6 cupcakes. Happy Birthday, little man. We love you so much and are so proud to call you our son!
