< hiking: grundy forest day loop >

Joe & I used to love to hike and mountain bike before we became parents. All of that outdoor activity was placed on hold when we moved from Cleveland to Dover... especially since there were no mountains in Delaware. =) Now that Jacob is getting older and developing a love for camping and such, we've started hiking with him. Nothing major, just level trails or paved paths around here... 2 miles or less. It's lots of fun, but we have been wanting to go beyond the level that Jacob can do.

On Good Friday, we went to Grundy county to visit Joe's mom. We had planned to go hiking one of the trails there while she and Jacob spent some quality time together... without us there to cramp their style. =) It was overcast and started to rain when we got to the trailhead, so we headed down to the SCRA Visitors Center to get some maps and wait the rain out. We heard from the lady inside that 2 tornadoes had touched down... in Murfreesboro! We went back to Joe's mom's house to check it out, and while there a tornado warning was issued for Grundy county as well.

After everything passed, we decided to give the hike another shot. I mean afterall, I was already wearing my super cool hiking shoes and new waterproof-breathable hiking pants. I didn't want to be all dressed up with nowhere to go. =) We probably got 3/4 of a mile or so in when it started raining again. In this picture we are wondering A) where should we look at the camera - the lens or red-eye light? OR B) what were we thinking not checking the forecast before going out on the trail? I actually think Joe was thinking "Forget the picture and get in the car, I'm getting soaked!" But he loves me so much, he humored me. =)

I hope you heeded the warnings: "no jumping of falls!" But if you were feeling a little irresponsible, I'd lovecto see the pics!
