J: Mom, did you know that 7+0=7?
C: Yep, sure did.
J: Did you know that when you add 0 to another number, the number doesn't change?
C: You're right.
J: And when you add one number to another number, they make a different number?
C: Right again.
(a bit of silence... he's deep in thought)
J: What's a+a?
C: Oh buddy, well... you can't add letters like that.
J: a+a=b
C: (I can't explain why he is wrong, and I'm NOT getting into algebra, so I try to change the subject)
J: What's b+b? It's d.
C: (hm... curious as to where he's going with this)
J: What's c+c?
C: Hm, I don't know buddy...
J: It's f.
So, then it makes TOTAL sense to me. If you give each letter a value according to it's position in the alphabet (a=1, z=26), then his formulas totally work. :) He continues to amaze me every day... I would love to be inside his little mind just for a day, just to see how it works.
Okay, another numbers-post... over. :)
