The day started off good enough... little playdate with friends at the Discovery Center. But I get home to find that there is 1/2 ice in the ice box, and the other half is water! So I start touching different things in the freezer and they are thawing out!! Our refrigerator has been making a noise for a few weeks. Turns out that these noises are indicators that something is wrong and it's usually a bad sign for the life and function of your appliance. Refrigerators don't fix themselves. Learn from me, people. =)
So I had to completely EMPTY the freezer... it was full, and now the trash can outside is full. I was able to salvage 2 of the 4 baked spaghettis that I fixed for my OAMC (Once A Month Cooking) swap. I could have saved the others if I had cooked them that night, but as much as I love that baked spaghetti, I couldn't fathom eating it for a week straight. =) Thankfully, a nice appliance repairman came out and had it fixed in a couple of hours.
In the meantime, I'm waiting for my mom and dad to get here. They came down for a visit Friday/Saturday. So as soon as they get here and see Jacob, my mom asks, "What's wrong with his neck?" I have no idea what she means. So I look and low and behold, there's a humongous knot on the side of his neck. He has no symptoms to accompany said knot... no fever, no cough, regular activity level, no loss of appetite. After talking to the triage nurse at Vanderbilt, she told me that since he didn't have symptoms, that I didn't have to take him to the ER... but that he needed to be seen first thing Saturday morning.
So instead of all the fun shopping that my mom and I were going to have, I drag her into a flu-infested pediatrician's practice. Sorry, Mom! We did not enter that waiting room, but stayed outside the glass doors until they called our name. Turns out that Jacob weighs 36.5 pounds, is 43 inches tall and has STREP THROAT. Completely asymptomatic. I'm totally hoping that if we get it, we are so fortunate to feel as good as he does. =)

So not fun! At least he feels good. That's really strange. I'll pray the good feelings last for the rest of you too! ;)
