At tee ball practice last night, I decided to take advantage of the gorgeous weather and take a walk around the park. Joe stayed at the field to watch our boy in action. When I came back to get a drink of water, another mom told me that I had really missed quite a show. Before I could even imagine what fantastic feat of athleticism our boy had performed in my absence (grin), she told me that Jacob had just lost a tooth...
by fielding a pop fly with his mouth!!
Coach saw the blood and thought he'd broken a tooth but, thankfully, it hit the loose one in the front and left it dangling by a thread. Joe quickly pulled it and, after a quick check by one of the other dads (who happens to be an ICU doc), Jacob was given the all clear. He did great - he didn't cry or hyperventilate like he usually does. I suppose not having time to worry about it beforehand really made a difference.
I'm hoping it will be awhile before the next tooth is ready to come out... we'll have to put him on a liquid diet if these teeth don't grow in soon! =)
