And here they come...

There weren't as many longhorns as I thought there would be. There are 15, to be exact. I guess I had an image of hundreds of them coming down the street. In retrospect, I'm thankful there weren't hundreds because that doesn't sound very safe to observe from the street. Jacob thought we were going to see a bullfight... we're in Texas, not Spain, little man! =)

Those are some big horns...

Some REALLY big horns.
It was very interesting to visit the Stockyards. My goodness at the cowboy hats... and the boots. I kid you not, I would say 99% of people were wearing blue jeans. Sadly, I was the 1% minority. The guys at work give Joe a hard time when he wears khakis to work... they say, "You're in Foat Wuth now, we wear jeans here."They really, really, really mean it.
Obviously, the longhorn is king in Texas. And Billy Bob's appears to be pretty popular, too. Why not combine them both into one redneck ride? =)

And while I'm on the subject of redneckishness... do you see this below? Who else would spend the time and effort to train their pets (who are natural born adversaries) to do this? It's like a tower of confusion.... or something like that. But it made me laugh. And it made me track down the dude who was parading this little show around so I could get a picture. Now who's the redneck?!

As we were walking back to the parking lot, we spotted a cowboy letting kids of all ages set atop a real. live. longhorn! I secretly didn't think Jacob would be interested... and even if he DID have the interest, I definitely didn't think he'd muster up the follow-through.
Well, I guess he showed me...

Farewell, Stockyards. Next time you see me, I'll be appropriately dressed in my jeans. But you can forget about the cowboy hat and boots...
...that's pushing it a bit too far.
